UPDATE: Football West will host a top four cup final day with a difference this Sunday with the conclusion of our first E-Series Club Cup competition.
All four finals – Xbox Junior, PS4 Junior, Xbox Senior and PS4 Senior – will be live streamed on the Football West home page HERE.
And after almost 200 FIFA 20 players entered, Football West Head of Member Services Alex Novatsis said the tournament could not have gone much better.
“We are delighted with how it’s gone,” he said.
“With the postponement of all football, we knew there would be a lot of players looking for a competition to play in.
“The standard is clearly very good and the feedback we have had has been great. We know other Member Federations have seen what we have done and are keen to start their own.
“And this is just the start for us. We will build on this with more competitions.”
X-Box Junior Final: BWA Equity v taylerhetGreat (noon)
BWA Equity (Carramar Shamrock Rovers FC) has made the most an opening round reprieve when his opponent was disqualified for using an international team.
Since then, in the colours of Bayern Munich, he has come into his own and edged a thrilling semi-final 2-1 over Bandii (Mandurah City), who played as Barcelona.
“I had a bit of luck in the first match but after that I’ve just enjoyed it,” said BWA Equity (aka Oscar).
“It’s been good fun and the standard is high. It’ll be nice to win the final but I expect it to be hard.”
And in taylerhteGreat (Woodvale FC) he faces an opponent who knows where the goal is.
So far taylerhteGreat has been prolific, winning his matches 11-3, 7-1 and 4-1.
“I like the E-Series because it makes it feel like the season isn’t being postponed by playing competitive matches online instead,” said taylerhteGreat (aka Tayler), who has been playing FIFA for four years.
PS4 Junior Final: Perrin-7 v Lollytom450 (1pm)
Perrin-7 (Salt JFC) was involved in a second-round classic when pipping Galaxy2301 (Olympic Kingsway SC) 4-3, and later came through against Pogdepay (Mandurah City FC) 2-1 to book a spot in the final.
Lollytom450 (Sorrento FC) had a tight squeeze in his opener, defeating fellow Gull Ed365die 3-2. Since then he has been a model of consistency and had a comfortable 5-2 semi-final win against CrippledCroatian (Gwelup Croatia SC).
Flying the flag for Pilbara region, Karratha-based Perrin-7 (aka Nathan) has been playing since FIFA10.
“I have played with PSG every game for this competition as I have practised with them and mastered their tactics,” he said.
“The E-series is something different from normal online modes and I and enjoy competing in competitions. I would definitely sign up for future competitions.”
Lollytom450 (aka Tom) began playing FIFA11 when he was just seven.
He said: “I have not changed teams – PSG is one of the, if not the, best team in the game, purely because of Mbappe and Neymar. Until they prove to me that they aren’t the best team in FIFA 20, I’ll keep on going with them.
“The E-Series is thrilling and exciting, just that feeling leading up to the games, nerves begin to settle in and when you are in the game, you’re treating it like a real game and that feeling after you win is amazing.
“If there was to be another competition I would be signing up, I’ve had such a great time and it has put a wall between football and self-isolation, which is definitely a motive to keep on going throughout the day to do what’s best for us and keep us inside.”
Xbox Senior final: churBALABPchur v Sufha on ig (2pm)
Sufha on ig (ECU Joondalup SC) won his first game 7-1 against Onthemove 33 (Referee) and hasn’t looked back. He followed that up with 4-0 and 3-0 wins to move into the last four.
In the semi-final Sufha on ig (aka Billy) accounted for TRICKSTAR 2005 (Perth SC) 4-2.
churBALABPchur (Armadale SC) has had two 4-3 wins on route to the final, including in the last four tie against xt0uch n playx (Kingsway SC).
churBALABPchur, who has been playing about 10 years, started off with Barcelona. “But I quickly changed to PSG because of the 5-star skillers – Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria. They definitely make the difference and help me control and win games”.
He added: “I enjoy competing against other players and showcasing my way of playing FIFA. I’m keen for future competitions.”
PS4 Senior Final: Dexchelsea11 v Karrar_lfc8 (3pm)
This division attracted the most players and its tight nature was reflected in the two semi-finals.
Dexchelsea11 (Joondalup United FC) overcame Rowey02 (Quinns FC) 2-1, while there was further disappointment for Quinns when Karrar_lfc8 (Canning City FC) beat bozie33 1-0.
The pick of their earlier rounds saw Dexchelsea11 (Joondalup United FC) thump Tyfer101 6-0, while Karrar_lfc8 (Canning City FC) prevailed in a 10-goal thriller over loreto9 (Perth AFC), eventually winning 6-4.
Dexchelsea11 (aka Declan) started playing FIFA over 20 years ago.
“I’ve been playing FIFA since Road to the World Cup 1998,” he said.
“E-Series has been quite competitive, there’s been plenty of good players and high number of competitors which has made it interesting.”
Like many players in the E-Series, Declan has changed teams mid-tournament.
He explained: “I started off with Man City and I wasn’t all that confident in their defending. Their defence is quick but they don’t have a dominant centre-back that fits the meta of FIFA 20, someone like a Van Dijk, Pique or Ramos. So I made the switch to Barcelona, they have incredible balance across the entire squad and it that fits my style of play perfectly at the moment.
“Most of my opponents have been PSG and I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about using them, however they lacked in some critical areas I knew I needed to be strong in.”
Heading into the final, Declan looked back at the E-Series overall and said: “It’s been a great series, to be honest. It’s required a great amount of focus and energy these past couple of weeks – so let’s see how I recover from this one before thinking about the next!”
Karrar_lfc8 (aka Karrar) said one player in particular has influenced his team of choice.
He said: “I have stuck with Juventus through out the whole competition, having Ronaldo is like having a very quick winger in a Sunday league game, just a cheat code. Give him the ball and let him do his thing.”
Asked about the competition, Karrar added: “The E-Series is a great competition. In a time where there’s no football, it’s nice to see that the community can still come together in these unprecedented times.
“I’ll definitely sign up for more comps and encourage others to do so until real football which we all really miss is back.”
